Independence offers schools three different types of Issues subscriptions: On Approval, Firm Order or via Curriculum Online eLearning Credits.

(1) ON APPROVAL SUBSCRIPTIONS: Schools who have an On Approval Subscription receive 18 titles a year (6 new titles in January, April and September) on an ongoing basis. All books supplied are available On Approval for 14 days. You may cancel your On Approval Subscription at any time under no obligation.

Please note: On Approval subscriptions are not entitled to Issues Online access. Our online service is only available to firm order subscribers (see Firm Order Subscriptions below for further details).

On Approval Subscription Cost (per term)

Six Issues titles per term = £41.70
Post & Packing = £4.50
+ Annual Index (each Sept.= £4.95
Total cost per term = £46.20

(2) FIRM ORDER SUBSCRIPTIONS: By subscribing to the Issues series on a firm order basis, you will receive six new Issues titles three times a year (January, April and September) on a firm sale basis. You can also take advantage of our introductory offer of 6 titles absolutely free (volumes 60-145). Plus you qualify for free 40-user license to access Issues Online. This contains a wealth of information from over 60 of the latest titles in the Issues series. And each term we will continue to add information from six of the latest Issues titles to the web site. On receipt of your firm order, we will send you your User Name and Password plus details of your free 40-user licence.

You may cancel your Firm Order Subscription at any time under no obligation.

Online access: Users in subscribing school libraries can access Issues Online in two ways:
• Username and Password - for school libraries who connect to the Internet via a dial-up service. Note: This is ideal for students who need to access the site from home.
• IP Address Recognition - for school libraries who have a constant connection to the Internet. Note: in order to register for IP address recognition you will need to know the IP address ranges that cover your site. You may need to obtain this information from your system or network manager.

(3) CURRICULUM ONLINE: We are pleased to announce that Independence is now an approved Curriculum Online content provider and that eLearning Credits may be used to subscribe to Issues Online. You also receive the six new Issues books three times a year (January, April and September) absolutely free!

You may cancel your Firm Order Subscription at any time under no obligation. Of course, this would also cancel your Issues Online access.

ONLINE ACCESS: Subscribing colleges can access Issues Online in three ways:
• Username and Password - for public libraries who connect to the Internet via a dial-up service.
• IP Address Recognition - for college libraries who have a constant connection to the Internet. Note: in order to register for IP address recognition you will need to know the IP address ranges that cover your site. You may need to obtain this information from your systems or network manager.
• Athens Log In –Issues Online can now be accessed via the Athens Log In service. This is ideal for students who need to access the site from home. Please note that there is a small surcharge to access Issues Online via the Athens service - £5.00 per term or £15.00 annually. This is to help cover the fees that Athens charges us.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES

FIRM ORDER SUBSCRIPTIONS: By subscribing to our six new Issues titles each term (January, April and September) on a firm sale basis for each of your central and main town public libraries, you qualify for free multi-site Issues Online licences for all libraries in your county.

Issues Online contains a wealth of information from over 60 titles in the Issues series. And each term we will continue to add the information from the latest six Issues titles to the web site. On receipt of your firm order, we will send you your User Name and Password plus details of your free multi-site licence for all libraries in your county. You may cancel your Firm Order Subscription at any time under no obligation.

ONLINE ACCESS: Users in subscribing public libraries can access Issues Online in three ways:
• Username and Password - for public libraries who connect to the Internet via a dial-up service.
• IP Address Recognition - for public libraries who have a constant connection to the Internet. Note: in order to register for IP address recognition you will need to know the IP address ranges that cover your site. You may need to obtain this information from your system or network manager.
• Library Bar Code Number - for public libraries who want their users to be able to access the resources externally.

PUBLIC LIBRARY SUBSCRIPTION COSTS
EXAMPLE: Let’s say that there are four main libraries (town and central libraries) and 22 smaller/branch libraries in your county. Subscribing to Issues would give you the following:
• Your four main libraries would each receive six copies of the latest books in the Issues series each term (plus copies of the Issues Annual Index each September).
• All 22 libraries in your authority could access to Issues Online, both within the libraries plus remote access for users at home.

The costs breakdown in this scenario would be as follows:
4 x 6 Issues books each term (72 books @ £6.95 each) = £500.40
4 x Issues Annual Index per year @ £4.95 = £19.80
3 x postage @ £4.50 = £13.50
Total for the year = £533.70
