Issues Today logoAbout Issues Today

Issues Today is a series of resource books on contemporary social issues for the 11 to 14 age group (Key Stage 3), based on the concept behind the popular Issues series for 14- to 18-year-olds. We believe that the earlier young people can begin to discuss and study social matters, the sooner they will start to understand the many and varied issues that shape our society – and its members – on a daily basis.

Each volume contains information from a variety of sources, including government reports and statistics, newspaper and magazine articles, surveys and polls, academic research and literature from charities and lobby groups. The information has been tailored to an 11 to 14 age group; it has been rewritten and presented in a simple, straightforward format to be accessible to Key Stage 3 students. In addition, all titles are fully photocopiable.

Each Issues Today title also features handy tasks and assignments based on the information contained in the book, for use in class, for homework or as a revision aid. Now you can provide your younger pupils with a framework to look at social issues in a structured way.

Issues Today can be used as a learning resource in a number of Key Stage 3 subjects, including English, Science, History, Geography, PSHE, Citizenship, Sex and Relationships Education and RE.
