Independence is an educational publisher that specialises in contemporary social issues. Our main list is Issues, the UK's first comprehensive reference source addressing contemporary social issues. Books may be purchased individually, in bulk or via subscription. Go to Orders for further details.
Issues is a unique series of books which improves our awareness of today's social issues. Key to the success of the series is the variety of opinions expressed on each issue.
Issues is an invaluable series of photocopiable resource books for those who need up-to-date information on social issues. They remove the burden of compiling and maintaining information from a wide variety of sources. Each 48-page book is presented in a lively magazine-style A4 format which makes the information easily accessible.
In Abortion, for instance, the ethical, religious and medical arguments are presented for and against abortion.
The Issues series are now on a three-year cycle. Much changes in that time. Not only do the statistics need updating but also there are often significant shifts in both public opinion and government policy. However, some issues are more topical over time while others fall by the wayside. Thus not all Issues are automatically renewed and new topics emerge.
